With that in mind, the team at Great Lakes Chiropractic of Michigan PLLC is dedicated to teaching about abnormal structure, what can be done about it, and the steps necessary to restore structure and health to those in our community and beyond.
In assessing the structure we utilize both x-rays and a computerized structure analysis program that measures the amount of structure imbalance.
The x-rays are an internal picture of your structure. The computerized structural analysis program is an external picture.
When looking at structure externally, we look at the structure from side to side (left to right) and front to back. Following is what we measure.
From Side to Side:
|
1. Eyes should be level
2. Shoulders should be level
3. Hips should be level
4. Knees should be level
5. Ankles should be level |
 |
*** You can also quickly check this yourself by standing in front of a mirror. Look and ask yourself, are your eyes, shoulders, or hips level? If the answer is no, you have a spinal misalignment and you need to have it checked.
Front to Back:
|
1. The center of your ear should line up with the center of your shoulder
2. The center of your shoulder should line up with the center of your hip
3. The center of your hip should line up with the center of your knee
4. The center of you knee should line up a point just in front of the ankle bone
|
 |
*** You can test this with a friend. Have your friend look at you from the side and see if you line up. Then check your friend. If your body doesn't line up, you have a structural problem.
If you have done the self test or checked your structure with a firiend and notice you have imbalanced structure. You have a structural problem.
The computerized structure exam tell will tell you to what degree you structure is imbalanced from the outside. What it does not tell you is what what is happening on the inside of your body. In order to do that you need x-rays of the structure.
Once it is determined you have a structural problem, the next step is to assess your structure with a comprehensive orthopedic, neurologic, and chiropractic examination to determine how your structural problem relates to your physical symptoms.
If you have a structural problem, naturally you need an approach that works toward correcting your structure. This is exactly what we do. To correct a structural problem requires a different approach. There is more involved to do this than pushing on bones or having your exercise. Rather it requires specific analysis of your structure, followed by therapeutic stretches and proceedures to align your abnormally balanced structure.
